Wythall Radio Club Visit to Woofferton

Woofferton transmitting station is owned by Merlin Communications and is primarily a HF transmitting site. The site is Located just off the A49 near Ludlow (you can't miss the 250ft masts). Some of the programing trasmitted from woofferton include BBC World Service, Voice of America (VOA), Voice of Vietnam (VOV) and many Religious stations but to name a few.
Woofferton was setup in 1943 with RCA 50 kW senders, these were upgraded in 1962 with six Marconi BD272 250kW trasmitters, some of these senders are still in use today..
